Hi Phil - I've some photos & a story for the newsletter/website. Myself, Tim Dalton & Ian Williams went to the Salford Nocturne recently mainly to cheer Matt Brammiere on in a rare home race. However, along the way we decided to upgrade to 'corporate' level & mix with the great & good of British Cycling as well as 'enjoying' free champagne & food all night. In between the races we got to meet Dave Brailsford, Chris Hoy, Hugh Porter & even got to hold Paul Manning's Gold Medal. Having eaves dropped in on Geriant Thomas & Ed Clancey's conversation it was clear that they had been 'enjoying' themselves a little too much since their Gold medal ride & didn't fancy their chances in the elite race. Armed with this information we told Matt this was his chance to get a result, to which he duly obliged. (He came 3rd in the bunch sprint behind Rob Hayles, 6th overall after being in the action all night). However, the high point of the evening has to be discussing music, haircuts & scooters over several beers with Bradley Wiggins! As things were winding down Wiggo practically begged us to continue 'enjoying' ourselves at a bar in Manchester city centre. This is when things started to get really bizarre. We arrived at the club, free entry, names on the door & escorted to the VIP area where we 'enjoyed' a few more hours in the company of the Olympic Endurance Squad along with Matt. What a night, the kind of evening usually reserved to the highest bidder on Children in Need! As we left the pursuit team were still going strong, along with Wiggo who can only be described as being in a very advanced stage of refreshment!!!!
