Club Rides

As the club caters for all types of cyclists, we don't just have a one ride fits all thinking. We organise 2 types of rides throughout the year, clubruns and training rides.

Clubruns are for everyone especially newcomers to the sport, these rides vary in length but will always stay together as a group.

Training rides are for riders who want to get fitter, maybe even race or just want to go faster. Training rides include long rides into Wales and chaingangs (see below).

Aswell as clubruns and training rides, during the year rides are organised for youths, women and golden oldies!!!

Clubruns

These rides take place every sunday during the winter and every wednesday during the summer.

Winter Clubruns

These rides take place on sundays @ 9.30am from the clubrooms and are organised by Ste Schofield. These rides generally last about 4 hours with a cafe stop, as mentioned above the groups stays together and no one is left behind. If you puncture, everyone stops and if your lucky they might help you fix it!!

Summer Clubruns - Ideal for Newcomers

These rides meet at the clubroom at 6.30pm every wednesday during the summer (except when the Club 10 mile Time Trial is on!). These rides are ideal for newcomers, as each ride is an hour in length and the speed is dictated by the slowest rider, so nobody will get left behind. Every ride finishes back at the clubrun for a well deserved cup of tea!!!

For more information about our club runs come down to the club rooms and speak to Ste Schofield.

Training Rides

These rides take place every wednesday, saturday, sunday during the winter and every tuesday, thursday during the summer.

Winter training

There are 3 training rides a week during the winter as follows:

Wednesday - 9.30am, Childwall Fiveways - these rides head over towards Delamere and stop at the 2 mills cycling cafe. Distances are between 60 - 80 miles.

Saturday - 10am - Wheatsheaf Pub, Rainford Bypass - This is a 2 hour ride taking in the lanes of West Lancashire, after christmas the ride sticks to the same route but the speed increases, to prepare for the annual training weekend in february.

Sunday - 9am, Birkenhead Tunnel or Clubrooms - This is usually a longer ride of about 80 - 100 miles either in north Wales or the Peak District.

Summer Training

Each tuesday an thursday the chaingang meets at Wingrays Car sales on Menlove Avenue at 6.30pm. Chaingangs are fast group rides, which help improve fitness, bunch riding and bike handling. These training sessions are ideal for members who wish to go faster, maybe for that european sportive or their first race.

For more information about our training rides come down to the club rooms and speak to Tim Dalton.
